Acceptable Use Policy

What you may not do with Equific or with the servers you connect to it. Short, because most of it is obvious — but one clause here is specific to what this product can do.

Every item written as [[ LIKE THIS ]] is a fact only the operator can supply. This document is not in force until they are filled in and the whole thing has had legal review.
Servers you may connect
Only connect servers you own or are authorised to administer.
Equific can take over a machine that is already running, given credentials for it. That is a genuinely useful feature for an agency inheriting a client's infrastructure, and an obviously attractive one for somebody who has acquired access they should not have.
So, explicitly: using Equific to provision, adopt, audit, deploy to, or run commands on a server you do not have the owner's permission to administer is a breach of this policy. It is also, in most jurisdictions, a criminal offence.
Content and conduct
Do not use Equific, or servers managed through it, to host, store or distribute:
- Material that is unlawful where you or your users are.
- Child sexual abuse material — reported to the authorities without notice to you.
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright or trade marks.
- Malware, ransomware, exploit kits, or command-and-control infrastructure.
- Phishing pages or anything impersonating another person or business to obtain credentials, money or personal data.
Network abuse
Do not use managed servers to:
- Send unsolicited bulk email, or operate an open relay.
- Launch denial-of-service attacks, port scans or intrusion attempts against anyone.
- Run traffic that breaches your hosting provider's own terms.
Security research against your own infrastructure is fine. Against anyone else's, it is not, whatever you call it.
The platform itself
- Do not attempt to access another customer's account, servers or data.
- Do not probe, scan or load-test the Equific platform without written permission. Testing your own servers through it is exactly what it is for.
- Do not share one account between several people, or resell access to the panel.
- Do not automate the interface in a way that degrades it for anyone else.
How we enforce this
Where we can, we will contact you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. Where the breach is serious, ongoing or unlawful, we may suspend the account immediately.
Suspending an account does not touch your servers. They keep running and keep serving traffic. What stops is our management of them — deployments, monitoring and scheduled backups.
We do not monitor the contents of your servers. We act on reports and on what the platform surfaces on its own.
Reporting abuse
To report a server managed through Equific that is breaching this policy, contact [[ ABUSE CONTACT EMAIL ]]. Include the domain or IP address and what you observed.
